翻訳版を読んだのがかれこれ二十年前。
原書でも改めてストーリーテリングのスゴさに圧倒されました。
大聖堂建立を願う建築家トム・ビルダー、司祭の立場からやはり大聖堂を望むフィリップ、波瀾万丈の人生を送ることになる伯爵令嬢アリエナとジャック・ジャクソン、悪役ここに極まれりのウィリアム・ハムレイとウォールランなどなど。各々の人生とその時その時の思惑がうねりのように入り乱れてホントジェットコースターに載っているかの様でした。
続編（と言っても直接つながっている訳でも無いですが）も原書にチャレンジかなー。
原書でも改めてストーリーテリングのスゴさに圧倒されました。
